Sixteen year-old Dominic Brian, a teenager from Bali, has become the first Indonesian citizen to appear on the China-based China Central TV (CCTV) Guinness World Records show. Brian was also the youngest participant at the show, which was attended by winners of Guinness World Records from all over the world. On Dec.9, CCTV invited holders of Guinness World Records in seven categories, including the winners of the World Memory Championship.
Brian had to face strong contenders from host country China, Sweden, Germany, the United Kingdom and other countries and had to defend his own record of memorizing 76 figures in one minute. The Indonesian came face to face with world champion Nikolai Konrad, a neuroscientist and a (PhD) candidate in psychology, and Chinese memory scientist Guan Mulin. In 2011, Brian, who dreamed of becoming an author, received World Memory Championship medal and became the first Indonesian citizen to make it onto the world’s top 10 list of memory champions.
