0 No additional villages to receive funds yet

Bali provincial administration has not yet decided whether additional customary villages will receive development funding under the Gerbangsadu village integrated program for 2013. Putu Astawa, head of the province’s village and community development programs, said that the government was still evaluating the 82 recipients of the funding in 2012.

“The government wants to comprehensively assess the usage of the distributed funding, whether it was effectively used to improve the villages’ economic activities,” Astawa said. In 2012, the administration allocated Rp 1 billion (US$103,500) to certain impoverished customary villages for economic development programs. According to data from the Bali Office of the central Statistics Agency, there are still 127 villages categorized as impoverished.
