0 Weather Agency Says No Heavy Rains for Jakarta Over Next Two Days

The Meteorology, Climatology and Geophysics Agency says Jakarta can expect to see no heavy rains or winds in the city over the next two days, after the capital was hit with torrential weather conditions on Wednesday afternoon. Mulyono Prabowo, the head of the weather agency known as BMKG, said on Thursday that the peak of the rainy season was estimated to take place at the end of February, adding that the city would experience a mix of wet and dry days between now and then.

He said that rain fell between 12 millimeters to 54 millimeters across the Greater Jakarta area on Wednesday, with the highest level recorded in the Pulomas area of East Jakarta at 54 millimeters. "In the scale of rain intensity per hour, zero to five mm is considered light, five to 10 mm medium and more than 10 mm is heavy,"  he explained. Mulyono said that rain levels would rise again on the weekend, but added that the rain would be sporadic.
