National Mandate Party (PAN) lawmaker Eko Hendro Purnomo, better known as Eko Patrio, was questioned on Tuesday as witness in Hambalang sports complex graft scandal. Eko arrived at the Corruption Eradication Commission’s headquarters in Jakarta on Tuesday morning accompanied by fellow PAN lawmaker Viva Yoga Muladi, who told reporters that Eko had rejected a government decision to increase the project’s budget.
The KPK also questioned on Tuesday other witnesses at the scandal, including Zulfadli, a lawmaker on House's Commission X overseeing sports, and Zulkarnaen “Choel” Mallarangeng, the brother of Andi Mallarangeng, the former youth and sports minister who resigned after he was named a suspect in the case. Under Andi’s tenure, the budget for the sports center ballooned from Rp 125 billion to Rp 1.17 trillion.
